Joseph J. Rydzik, Sr., 72, of Simpson died Thursday at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale. His wife is the former, Helen Lesniewski. The couple had celebrated 47 years of marriage in October. Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late John & Lottie Podlewski Rydzik. He was a 1962 graduate of Archbald High School and then served in the Army during the Viet Nam War. Joe had been a partner in the Rydzik Lumber Co., Simpson and then was employed by Sysco Food Service, Pittston. He was a 50 year member of the William J. Griffiths American Legion Post #465, Jermyn, a member of the N.E. PA Antique Truck Club and a member of the American Truck Historical Society. Joe is also survived by a son, Joseph Rydzik, Jr., Simpson, a daughter Beth and husband Jeffrey Miller, Crystal Lake, a grandson Joshua Miller and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Paul and Peter Rydzik and a sister Marcella Thomas. The funeral will be Monday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson.
