Anthony “Bucky” S. Gardus, 93, of Whites Crossing died Tuesday at Carbondale Nursing Home. His wife of 67 years is the former Anna Kresock.
Born in Whites Crossing, he was the son of the late Anthony & Anna Falong Gardus. He was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson. Anthony served in the Navy during WW II. Later, he worked as electrical contractor.
He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, Bucktail Hunting Lodge, the Slovak Society and was a former member of the Fell Township Golden Age Seniors. He enjoyed spending time in his garden and trips to the casinos. Anthony was a loving husband and father who will be missed by his entire family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Matthew Haley and the staff at the Carbondale Nursing Home for their care.
He is also survived by a son A. Francis, at home; 2 brothers Francis , Carbondale;John, Whites Crossing; 4 sisters Anna Sutor, Waymart, Sophie Hayzer, Garfield, NJ; Monica Wanas, Carbondale and Melanie Lee, Dickson City, many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Bernard- who died Friday & Joseph and three sisters Pauline, Martha and Lucille.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 2nd in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St, Simpson at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Simpson will follow.
