Donald W. Burdick, 93, of Forks Township died Tuesday at home. His wife is the former Betty Lou Robinson. Born in Scranton, PA, he was the son of the late Irving & Della May (Fox) Burdick. He was a graduate of Carbondale High School and received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Scranton. Donald served in the Army during WWII and participated in the Battle of the Bulge. Years later, Burdick was bestowed the French Legion of Honor medal for his service. Donald had been employed for 25 years by the Manville New Jersey Board of Education as a teacher. He was a member of the College Hill Presbyterian Church, Masonic York and Scottish Rite, Shriners, Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge Lehigh Valley Chapter. In addition to his wife he is survived by a daughter, Sherry Lynn Burdick, a brother, Walter R. Burdick, two nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by a sister, Esther. A Graveside Service will be conducted today(Friday) at 1:00 PM in the Glen Dyberry Cemetery, Honesdale, PA by the Rev. Robert C. Smith of College Hill Presbyterian Church.
