Larry B. Ellett, 53, of Uniondale died Thursday at Geisinger-CMC, Scranton. His wife is the former Ronda Bishop. The couple had been married for 28 years.
He was born in Hancock, NY and was raised in Carbondale, graduating from Carbondale Area High School in 1978. Larry then served in the Army with the military police. He retired as a Lieutenant with the Pennsylvania Department of Correction, SCI-Waymart.
He was a member of the Cottage Hose Ambulance for over 30 years and was an assistant fire chief at Pocono Raceway. He had been a member of St. Rose Parish, Carbondale. Larry was also the assistant women’s softball and volleyball coach at Penn State University, Worthington Campus. He enjoyed camping and was a loving husband and father.
He is also survived by two daughters, Nicole and Geri Ellett, both at home and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Monday from the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 North Church St., Carbondale.
