Amelia M. Morris, 89, of Simpson died Tuesday at Wayne Woodlands Manor, Waymart. She was the wife of John F. Morris. The couple had been married for 55 years.

Born in Amelia Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Domicella Baurus Karausky. Amelia was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson and attended Beauty School for hairdressing.  She was a mother and homemaker for her two sons, and worked for Northrop Grumman and for Daystrom building electronic circuit boards.

Amelia was a member of Ascension Parish, Forest City and a former member of the Knights of Lithuania.

Amelia was a devout and faithful Christian and lived by those values. She put God and her family first.  She enjoyed spending time in the kitchen with her husband and on Sunday mornings after church they danced together to polkas played on the radio. She liked to sew and to bake – her apple and blueberry pies are unrivaled – and she made a lot of her own clothes. She liked watching the movie The Sound of Music, listening to John Denver record albums, decorating for the holidays, and she stayed close with her sisters their whole lives, talking with them on the phone in Lithuanian. She was a loving and selfless wife and mother, always with an encouraging word or touch. Everyone who knew her will remember her easy smile and her extraordinary kindness. She will be dearly missed.

She is also survived by her two sons, John Morris, Atlantic Beach, FL and David Morris, Carbondale, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, David, John, Joseph, and Frank, and three sisters, Sophie, Stacia, and Alice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 26th at 10:00 AM in Ascension Parish, St. Joseph’s Church,741 Delaware St., Forest City. Interment will be in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Forest City.

Arrangements are by the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc. Simpson. For condolences visit: www.scotchlasfuneralhome.com
