Ann “Honchee” Voyce, 96, of Simpson died Wednesday night at Allied Service Hospice, Scranton. She was the widow of Stephen “Cy” Voyce, who died in 2011.

Born in Simpson, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Florence Kowalchik Kulick. She was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson class of 1944.  Ann worked for many years as a waitress in the Catskill Mountains of New York for the Concord, Windsor, and Grossinger’s Hotels. From the late 1940’s through 1959, she and her husband were co-owners of the locally-renown Cy and Red’s Bar in Simpson. Later, she was a teacher’s aide for N.E.I.U. #19 working in Carbondale and Jermyn.

Ann was a member of Holy Trinity/St. Michael Church/ St Rose Parish, the Silver Sneakers program at the Carbondale YMCA, and the book club of the Carbondale Library. Ann, along with her husband and neighbors helped found and care for the Monkey Run Park, Simpson. She was a member of the Fell Bells during Fell Township Centennial.

A heart attack survivor in 1987, she became a daily walker and remained physically active through YMCA programs into her 90’s. Her dedication to heart-health was highlighted in the 2015 issue of Happenings magazine’s “Women in Red, February is Heart Month” issue. She found relaxation as an avid reader and a crossword puzzle aficionado.

She is survived by a son, Dr. Stephen Voyce and wife Margaret, Clarks Summit, a daughter, Mary Ann Duffy and husband Brian, Hammond, NY., a brother, Robert Kulick, Monte Sereno, Calf., six grandchildren, Lauren Kras and husband Ben Griffith, Allison Kras, Stephen, Michael, Daniel and Max Voyce, nieces, and nephews.
