Beatrice A. Plonski, 87, of Carbondale died Christmas Day at home surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Joseph Plonski, who died in 2013.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Edward J. and Beatrice Flannery Monahan. Beatrice was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale and a homemaker who enjoyed raising her children. She was very involved in supporting and attending her grandchildren’s sports events.

Beatrice enjoyed cooking Sunday and holiday dinners for her family and family get togethers. She also looked forward to trips to Delaware to visit family and watching television with the family dog, “Dodger”.  Although, she only had eight grandchildren, everyone called her “gram”. She was always a kind and warm spirit to be around.

Beatrice is survived by her three children, Susan and husband Donald Ogozaly, Carbondale, Laura and husband James Wiggins, Clifford Township, and David Plonski, Pittston, a sister, Mary McAndrew, Wilmington, DE, eight grandchildren, Kristen and husband Ray Sona, Erika and husband Kyle Wagner, Amanda and Brooke Ogozaly, Stephanie, Andrew, Jillian and Callie Plonski, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son Joseph Plonski Jr., and a brother, Edward “Butch” Monahan Jr.

The funeral will be Wednesday at 1:00 PM from the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson. Interment will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Cemetery, Jermyn.  Friends may call Wednesday 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM.
