David E. Arthur, 95, of Vandling and formerly of Lyndhurst, N.J. died on Monday.

Born in Waymart, he was the son of the late George and Anna Novak Arthur. He was a member of St. Rose Parish, St. Michael’s Church, Simpson.

Dave was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson class of 1946. He served his country with the 8TH Army during the occupation of Japan and again with the Army during the Korean War.

Prior to retirement, he was the manager of Customer Service at the Rutherford N.J. post office. He was also branch manager Lyndhurst, N.J. post office and officer in charge, Secaucus, N.J. post office. He was an appointed investigator with the Northeast Region Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

David was a member of the Lyndhurst N.J. Little League Volunteer Umpires, Toastmasters International, Clifton N.J. and V.F.W. Posts 2640, Wallington, N.J. and 4712, Simpson.

He is survived by a daughter in law, Margie Arthur, Indianapolis, Indiana, a sister in law, Norma Arthur, Carbondale and several nieces and nephews.

David was predeceased by his wife Regina Sarnoski Arthur, sons, David S. and baby Joseph, brothers, George and Thomas and a sister, Margaret Woodruff.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson. Interment with military honors will be in Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart.  Family and friends may visit at the funeral home Saturday from 10 AM to 11 AM.
