Dolores ( Dee / Deanie) Kowalewski, 87, of Forest City died Monday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. She was the widow of Joseph Kowalewski, who died in 1995. The couple had been married for 34 years at the time of his passing.

Born in Forest City, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Kathryn Wingreen Renczkowski. Dolores was a 1952 graduate of Forest City High School.  She was employed by Pangee Dress Factory, Vandling and later the Gentex Corp.

Dolores was a member of St. Basil’s Russian Orthodox Church, Simpson.   Dee loved her home and decorating it for all seasons. She enjoyed dancing and especially Polka’s and went to many Polka dances.

Dee is survived by a brother in law, Al Kowalako, and several nieces and nephews, her best friend Mary Wielebinski, who was always there for her. Also the Flora family and Angela Tobish. Dee was also comforted by her two pets, Sally , her cat and Teppy, her bird.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Kowalsko.

The funeral will be Thursday with a Requiem Service at 10:00 AM in St. Basil’s Russian Orthodox Church, 33 Midland St., Simpson by the V. Rev. Mitred Archpriest David J. Hritcko.  Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Forest City.

Friends may call at the church Thursday from 9 AM until the time of service.
