Florence Merrick Kelly (90) of Archbald died Wednesday, in the house she was born in and lived her entire life.  Born in Archbald, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Merrick and Florence Dean Merrick.  Her loving husband of 63 years, Richard Kelly, passed away in July, 2021.  She was a member of Christ the King Parish.  Florence was very active with Christ the King Church especially its parish picnic.  She loved making calls for donations for her basket stand.  Florence was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School and St. Thomas Commercial School.  She retired from the Pennsylvania Unemployment Office in 1996.  Florence loved spending time with her family and “The Club”.   What made Florence the happiest was to be called Grammy by her 2 grandsons who she referred to as “my boys”.   They were the lights of her life.

Florence’s family would like to extend a special thank you to her loving caregivers.  They would also like to convey their sincere gratitude to all the nurses and staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kindness and compassion during a difficult time.

Florence is survived by her only child, daughter Mary Houser and husband Douglas, Chantilly, VA;  grandsons Jonathan (Ashley) Richmond, VA and Matthew, Chantilly, VA.  She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her sisters Mary, Elizabeth, and Theresa and brothers Thomas and Joseph.

The funeral will be Tuesday, September 20 with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Christ the King Parish, 411 Church St. Archbald.  Friends may call 1 hour prior to the mass.  Interment will be at the parish cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Christ the King Parish Picnic.
