James Stephen Mazeika Sr, 81, of Waymart PA, passed away at home amongst family and friends on Thursday, November 2nd, after a 5 year battle with cancer.

He was born on April 26, 1942 to Joseph P Mazeika and Margaret L Halstead in Wilkes-Barre, PA.

After graduating from Harter High School, West Nanticoke PA, in 1960, he went on to honorably serve in the United States Army for 3 years.

Following his military service, he was employed at the Ford Motor Company in Edison NJ, retiring after 34 years.
Jim had a warm personality and a good sense of humor; he enjoyed tennis, square dancing, and both playing and directing bridge. He enjoyed helping anyone in need.

The family would like to thank the staff of Wayne Memorial Hospice for their care of Jim.

He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Margaret; brothers, Joseph, Robert, and Anthony; and sister Gertrude Radowski. He is survived by his sister Marjorie Moran; his four children, Bonnie Brennen, James Mazeika, Patricia Fink, Robert Mazeika; and ten grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In 2005, he met his companion, Mary Gardas Tragis in Honesdale PA, with whom he found a source of love, joy, happiness, and companionship.

The funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00 AM in the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson, with his son, Pastor Robert Mazeika, officiating. Interment with military honors will be in Canaan Corners Cemetery, Waymart. Friends may visit on Tuesday from 5 to 8 PM and Wednesday from 10 AM until Service time.
