Joan V. Yamialkowski, 76, of Carbondale died Tuesday at the Carbondale Nursing Center.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Cecelia Yancheck Yamialkowski. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale.  Joan was employed by and retired from Gentex Crop., Simpson.

Joan was the sacristan at Holy Trinity Church, Simpson until its closure. She was also active in the choir and church picnic. Upon the merger with St. Michael’s Church, she continued to be an active parishioner and usher.

Some of her hobbies included watching game shows, working on “Word Find” and puzzles and Polka dancing. Jean would like to thank the staff of the Carbondale Nursing Home and Carol Opalka for their assistance in the care and friendship offered to her and  Joan.

She is survived by her twin sister, with whom she resided, Jean Yamialkowski, Carbondale, a Godson Jeret Edwards, an aunt and cousins.

Joan was preceded in death by a brother, Stanley Jr.

The funeral will be Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson.  Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Simpson.
