Karen McGee Sass of North Hollywood, CA. died on May 1st at home in the presence of her husband of 52 years, Steven Sass.

Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Winifred Walsh McGee and William J. McGee. Karen graduated from St Rose High School, Class of 1961 and was a member of St. Rose Parish where she sang in the choir.

Moving to Florida, she graduated from Florida Atlantic University, and received her teaching degree and began teaching. She loved to teach and all her students became like her own children. Her greatest gift was her laughter.

She moved to Hollywood, CA., as Steven worked in the film industry. She taught there and joined St. Patrick’s Church and Choir. She was blessed.

Karen is survived by two sisters, Patricia Dragwa, Carbondale, Sharlene Wood-Keysar and husband Dan, Beerfield Beach, FL., a brother, William F. McGee and wife Nancy, Boynton Beach, Fl., a brother-in-law, Kenneth Robert Sass, Borden, NJ, 13 nieces and nephews and  16 great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother in law, Thomas Dragwa.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, June 16th at 10:00 AM in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale. There will be a visitation beginning at 9:00 AM at the church.  Interment will be  at Our Mother of Sorrows, Greenfield Township.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD. 21741 or St. Rose of Lima Parish, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale, PA. 18407.
