Lakshmi V. Jayanty, 98, of Greenfield Township died Sunday at Barnes Kasson Skilled Nursing Home, Susquehanna.   She was the widow of Dr. Surya Jayanty, who died in 1997.

Born in Barhampur, India, she was the daughter of the late Somayajulu Pullela and Sarva Lakshmi Sonti. She was educated in India and received a bachelor’s degree.

Lakshmi was a homemaker, an artist and a writer including writing plays. She was of a strong mind and will and motivated her family whom she loved. She had a dry sense of humor and could often be found entertaining making animal noises. Lakshmi was very proud of her heritage and what she was able to accomplish. Her family was blessed to have her.

She is survived by her two children, Dr. Lakshmi Mizin and Husband Michael, Greenfield with whom she resided, Dr. Vikiam Jayanty and wife Theresa, Huston, Tx., nine grandchildren, Kavita, Sarita, Marcus, Nicholas, Alex, Daniella, Sophia, Amlia, Banca and a great grandchild, Teo.

Cremation services are by the Oliver Shifler & Scotchlas Funeral Home, 621 Main St., Carbondale.
