Leo P. Sotak, 89, of Simpson died Thursday at the Gino Merli Veteran Center, Scranton. His wife, the former Regina “ Jeannie” Matistic died in 2003.

Born in Orson, he was the son of the late John & Mary Biley Sotak. Leo proudly served his country during World War II as a Sergeant in the US Army Air Corps. He had been employed as a Service Staff Claims Representative for Allstate Insurance. He had resided in Milltown New Jersey before moving back to Pennsylvania.

Leo was a life-long member of the American Legion and was a Past Commander of the American Legion Joyce Kilmer Post # 25, Milltown, NJ, as well as a Past County Commander of the American Legion Middlesex County New Jersey.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Gino Merli Center for their wonderful care of Leo.

He is survived by a son, Paul Jude Sotak, Wilkes-Barre, a sister, Marian Salamas, Vandling and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph & John Sotak and two sisters, Anna Rutherford and Helen Price.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, February 9th at 9:30 Am in Our Lady of Snows Church, 301 So. State St., Clarks Summit by the Rev. Seth Wasnock.   Interment with military honors will follow at 2:00 Pm in the Brigadier General William Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
