Louise M. Yavoroski, 91, of Carbondale died Tuesday in the Carbondale Nursing Home.  She was the widow of her loving husband, Stanley Peter Yavoroski, who died in 1971.

Born in Simpson, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie Strumski Scotchlas. Louise was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson and a graduate of Madam Fenwick School of Beauty, Carbondale. Louise had been employed by the Bell Telephone Co, Carbondale and after graduation from Beauty School as a licensed cosmetologist she owned a beauty salon in Simpson for many years.

She was an assistant manager of Summit Garden Apartments, Carbondale and was employed by the Carbondale Housing Authority as the Section 8 Coordinator, when she retired. She was a member of St. Michael’s Church, Simpson and the former Confraternity of Christian Mothers and Guild.  Louise was also a Den Mother for Cub Pack #17, Simpson and a member of the Carbondale Business and Professional Women’s group.

Louise was the first person to light the Star/Cross on Shannon Hill in Simpson which her husband engineered. The family would like to thank the Staff of the Carbondale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Doctor Matthew Haley, Carbondale and Traditional hospice of Dunmore for everyone’s professional and loving care.

She is survived by two sons, Stanley Yavoroski and partner Shelly Hobson, New Hope, Frank and wife Nancy McAndrew Yavoroski, Simpson, a sister, Barbara Galvin, Douglaston, NY and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two infant children Joseph and Charles Yavoroski, two brothers, Joseph and Frank Scotchlas and two sisters, Marion Gadai and Charlotte Kluck.

The funeral will be Saturday with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 AM in St Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Simpson. Family and friends may visit at the church on Saturday from 10:30 AM until mass time.
