Mary A. DeHart,80, of Plymouth, was called home with the angels, at the home of her granddaughter, Maryanne Skorets.

She was the widow of the late James Richard DeHart, who passed away in June 2008.

Mary was born in and a longtime resident of Carbondale. She was the daughter of the late John and Ruth Schnoover Roche. She attended Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and at one time was an employee of the Lackawanna County Courthouse. She retired as a housekeeper at Community Medical Center, Scranton.

Mary enjoyed spending most of her time visiting her family and friends, loving all of her grandkids, completing word searches. She took the bus EVERYWHERE, traveling, shopping, eating Hershey’s  chocolate bars, eating ice cream and drinking  Sprite soda were her favorites. Mary was a Grandma to all…including the Grandma of the adopted pets…Definitely one of a kind!

She is survived by her eight children, Lori Sheridan, Hallstead, Joseph Skorets, Carbondale, Brenda Skorets, Yonkers, NY, Candace Pietsch, Carbondale, Loretta Ellsworth, Wilkes Barre, Jeffrey DeHart, Carbondale, Brandy DeHart, Scranton, Brett Michael DeHart, Scranton .Mary also loved all 25 of her grandchildren and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a big thank you to Hospice of the Sacred Heart. We were forever grateful for all of the nurses and caregivers involved.  They were absolutely helpful, professional and wonderful with Mary’s palliative care.   We shared lots of laughs and very few cries. You were all the very best.

The family would also like to thank a few others who assisted with caring for Mary in her final months, Tiffany and Jill, Melanie and Becky, Dawn and Matt, and Melissa and Jennifer. Mary loved each and everyone of you as her own family and was very thankful. As Mary would say, ”the very best they all were”.

The funeral will be Wednesday evening with a Blessing Service at 7:00 PM in the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson, Pa 18407.  Family and friends may visit 5 to 7 PM. For directions or condolences visit: www.scotchlasfuneralhome.com  The family requests that donations be made to the funeral home to help with costs.
