Maryann Melnick, 90, of Simpson,  died Thursday at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore. Her  beloved husband of 65 years,  the late  Michael J. Melnick passed away on October  8, 2017.

Born in Simpson,  daughter of the late Michael and Anna Fendrock Ruddy, she was a graduate of Fell Township High School. She was a member of the former Holy Trinity Church now St Rose Parish and a member of the Fell Township Golden Age Club.

Throughout the years, Maryann had been employed by Sikorsky Aircraft Corp., Stratford,  CT, Concord Hotel, Catskill Mountains, NY and the Elk View Country Club, Crystal Lake.  During the 1970’s, Maryann along with her sister Barbara, owned and operated the Swing Shoppe and  Game Room at Elk Lake in Waymart.    Maryann enjoyed playing bingo and taking bus trips to the casinos with her friends.  Her three children were the most important things to Maryann.  She  will be missed by all who knew her , especially her cat, Cuddles.

She is survived by her three children, Michael Melnick and wife Linda, Greenfield Township;   Laura Melnick, Simpson;  and Glenn Melnick and wife Lisa, Simpson, nieces and nephews.

Maryann was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Patrick and John Ruddy and sisters, Kathryn Ruddy and Barbara Rogowski.

Maryanns’ family would like to thank all her doctors and staff at Geisinger CMC and all the compassion shown from the nurses and staff at the Hospice of Sacred Heart.

Funeral services will be held Monday with Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson. Interment will follow in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Simpson.

Friends may call on Sunday 5 to 8 PM at the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc., 621 Main St., Simpson.
