Paul J. Kielar, 82, of Simpson died Wednesday at Regional Hospital of Scranton surrounded by his loving family. His wife, is the former Veronica Novobilski. The couple had been married for 40 years in May.

Born in Simpson, he was the son of the late John & Stella Shiner Kielar. He was a graduate of Fell High School, Simpson and served in the Army. Paul had been employed as a butcher in several local grocery stores and prior to retirement as a Corrections Officer at Farview State Hospital, Waymart.

He was a member of St. Rose Parish/ St. Michael’s Church, Holy Name Society and the Walter Paciga VFW Post # 4712, Simpson. Paul enjoyed being an everyday handy-man and was able to fix or build almost anything. His greatest pride and joy was his granddaughter, “Funny Face”.

HE is also survived by two sons, Michael and James and wife Tresa, all of Simpson, a granddaughter, Gabrielle, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, the former Lillian Russian a son John, a brother Joseph and sisters Joan Jaskula and Florence Gerchman.

The funeral will be Saturday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson. Interment with military honors will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Simpson.
