Sally Mack, 87, formerly of Carbondale died Friday after an illness at the home of her daughter in Ocala Florida.  Her husband of 62 years was John J. Mack, who died October 16, 2022.

Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Harry and Margaret Pope Baldwin, She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Carbondale. Sally was a 1954 graduate of Ben Franklin High School. Prior to retirement she worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Carbondale in the business office.

Sally loved to be outdoors working in her flower garden alongside her husband or sitting on the patio with their beloved dog, Bella. She truly appreciated the beauty of everything around her. She was an avid reader and said the rosary daily. Up until the end Sally maintained her kindness, grace, compassion and appreciation for the love of family and friends and expressed gratitude for her long life with wonderful memories.  You will be dearly missed Mom but I will look for you in the clouds.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Marion County for their kindness they showed Sally during her illness.  And thank you family and friends for your calls to Sally she really appreciated them.

She is survived by two daughters, Lonnie (Glen) Slick, Carbondale and Carol (Bob) Karosus, Ocala, Fl., two beloved grandchildren, Dr. Scott Slick and fiancée Dr. Marisa Riley, Hartford, CT., Lindsey Slick, Carbondale, a brother, Joseph “Hal” Baldwin and wife Kathy, Glen Burnie, MD., nieces, Lauren Pope, Wendy Epke, Holly Moden and Peggy Majdic and husband Jack, who were very special to her.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Sheila Tinsley.

A memorial mass will be celebrated in the summer in Carbondale.
