William R. Butwill, 72, of Simpson died Thursday evening at home. His fiancée is Janet Rusnak.

Born in Carbondale and a lifelong resident of Simpson he was the son of the late William S. and Clementine Frankshun Butwill. He was a graduate of Fell High School class of 1962. Bill graduated from the Scranton State General Hospital School of Radiology.  He had been employed by St. Joseph’s Hospital and Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale for 47 years as an x-ray technician.

Bill was a member of St. Michael’s Church / St. Rose Parish and was an avid outdoors man. He could regularly be found gardening, hunting, riding his quad or simply walking his dog Hunter. He was a member of Tri-County Sportsmen Club, Simpson.

Bill is survived by the love of his life, Janet and two sisters and their husbands, Ursula and  James Davis, Jermyn, Karen and Paul Konosky, Scott Township, three nieces, Jessica Breslin, Kylene Owen, Kristen Konosky and a nephew Paul Konosky, and his faithful dog, Hunter.

The funeral will be Monday from the Joseph W Scotchlas Funeral Home, Inc 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 AM in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St, Simpson. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Simpson.
