Yolanda A. Scotchlas, 90, formerly of Simpson died Tuesday morning at the Forest City Nursing Center.
She was the widow of Walter A. Scotchlas, who died in 1978.
Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Joseph & Angela Maria Gentile. She attended Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale and had been employed for many years in the Carbondale area garment industry.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Church/ St. Rose Parish and the Fell Township Golden Age Seniors, Simpson. She had been a member of the former Confraternity of Christian Mothers and the Fell Renaissance. In her younger years, Yolie enjoyed bowling, traveling with her sister and friends, parties and gatherings and spending time with her family.
The family would like to thank Dr. Neal Davis and his staff and the staff of the Forest City Nursing Home for their care of Yolie over the past few years.
Yolanda is survived by a son Joseph W. and wife Alice, Simpson; two daughters, Elaine M. and husband Richard Grzenda, Jermyn and Karen L. Scotchlas, Morrisville, N.C.; eight grandchildren, James Loomis, IV and wife Amber; Jennifer Loomis; Joseph M Scotchlas and partner Sebastian; Adam and Emily Scotchlas and Kayleigh, Abigail and Benjamin Cook, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by three brothers ,Louis, Jacob and Joseph Gentile, four sisters, Frances Donato, Mary Gentile, Rita Derwinski and Evelyn Elia.
The funeral will be Friday from the Joseph W. Scotchlas Funeral Home,Inc 621 Main St., Simpson with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 Am in St. Michael’s Church, 46 Midland St., Simpson. Interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday 5 to 8 pm. Golden Age Club will meet at 5:30 PM.
