Joan G. Horton of Clifford Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 4^th, 2023 at Forest City Nursing and Rehab.  She was the widow of Charles H. Horton, Clifford Township and daughter of the late Kathryn (Dasenburg) and Ishmael Gibbon, formerly of Tompkinsville.

Joan was a graduate of Scott High School and was class valedictorian and she enjoyed sewing, baking pies, gardening, bird watching and traveling across the country after retirement visiting family, friends and historical sites.

Surviving are son Bill, wife Hilda and granddaughter Hannah; daughters and husbands Paula and Jeff Fearn; Alane and William Smith;  sister-in-law Jane (Horton) Strickland;  and many cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley and brother, Robert.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Forest City Nursing and Rehab, as well as Dr. Haley, for the kindhearted care provided during Joan’s stay.

A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at Clifford Valley Cemetery.  The family gratefully declines flowers, but Joan would like if you performed a random act of kindness or a memorial contribution in Joan’s name to an animal’s or children’s charity of one’s choice.
